TODAY IN THE MADHOUSE

Been sooo busy today. Life as a teenage parent housing support worker is never dull. Running round like a headless chicken all day. Really thought I was going to have a heart attack. No Monica, no time to chat. Zhora's off today - and it's her birthday. Betty arsing people off cos she's stressed out too. Run, run, run. Run into the kitchen. For God's sake kettle, boil!

Phone keeps going and I can't get on with anything. No time to feel flat today.

I have to go out and take Lecresha shopping today. She needs things to set up her first home. But now she's looking at mini fridges for her bedroom. This girl's buying white carpets and painting her whole house white. She has a four month old baby. Lots to learn then. Give it a month. Anyway, it's got me out of the office and my breathing gets more even every minute. It gets to 5.30 and I start to watch the clock.

Jessica has asked me to get her some food so she can cook her friends a meal before one goes off to Newcastle Uni. Ring her on way home to say I'm going to Sainsbury's and she tells me she's changed her mind so drive straight home.

Wet patch on the hall tiles. She's been losing it again with her 13 year old brother. Thank God I had the tiles put down.

Her friends arrive and she asks the rest of us to go into the dining room because they've nowhere to sit. Absolutely not, Jess. So they make a den in there instead. They are 18 and drinking wine.

David and James are watching Total Recall. I seem to recall they have watched this a couple of times before. My husband is a teacher. But maybe a daft one. He loves watching the big, strong men maybe.
